Feedback for each poster and general feedback:

General Feedback:

- Find a more specific exhibition you want to promote. For example a fan-art exhibition. It has to have something to do with Graphic Design.

My comments on Draft 1:

I liked the idea of negative space, so it started off like that and turned into this, the white stag with the dark background. Using circles and geographic shapes like Malika Favre also uses in her work (mentioned in a blogpost earlier). Which I liked as the main aesthetic of the poster. I wanted to keep the design as simplistic as possible, which is why the poster only features two main images. I was thinking of maybe changing the photograph on the background into something illustrated instead, to fit the image better. Naturally, the information of the exhibition is still incomplete and I'm definitely not sure about the typeset so I will probably change that. But I do want to keep the stag as the main aesthetic across the designs I want to make.

Feedback for Draft 1:

- The typeface is a bit strange, look into a better typeface. It might be good to find a clean serif font or even better the original Harry Potter Font used with the Books and the movies. Look into that.

- Use more textures as background, rather than just a black background. In print Black often loses much of its colour, therefore, such a big stretch of Black might not be the most beneficial thing to use.

My comments for Draft 2:

This poster was an attempt at a more minimalist design. Just the geometric shapes of the glasses. I tried out putting the stag in the middle to make it seem like the stag was emitting the light in the middle, like it is emerging from the middle. I chose these darker colours because I feel like the tone of the films are quite dark as well.

Feedback for Draft 2:

- Somehow the poster lacks something. Maybe thicken the scar.... or add another element to the poster. (platform 9 3/4 for example).

- Centre the text(also typeface again). All of the other elements are in the middle, so to suddenly have the text flush right is kind of strange and imbalanced.

My comments for Draft 3:

Harry in front of the mirror of Erised. Inspired by Malika Favre's work. The poster features dark colours and tones, relatively simple aestetic: the character looking into the mirror, not too many distinguishing features apart from his glasses and his scar. (Not sure whether to add reflection into the mirror, maybe just a shadow). Feel like it misses something --> Maybe add a shadow of a wizard (or Dumbledore) in the shadows of the room, looking at the boy. I like this design, but have trouble thinking of a way to translate this design to t-shirt.

Feedback Draft 3:

- Again, typeface.

My comments Draft 4:

This design was based on with La Boca's designs in mind (see blogpost about inspirational posters), more specifically their design of the poster for the movie Black swan. I used the stag of the first poster to make a more geometric version of the stag, featuring more straight lines. I used subdued tones and repetition to create negative space. Was thinking of changing the background colour and still need to figure out what kind of typology to use.

Feedback Draft 4:

- like the aesthetic of this one.

- Though maybe lower the stags and add perspective.

- You could also add antlers.

- Rethink the colour of the background, because it is an interesting colour.

- Maybe add texture on the background.

I have in the end decided to go with Draft 4 as my main poster Aesthetic and decided indeed to base my project around a graphic design exhibition on Harry Potter Fan Art.
