W2.4 Finding the negative space

For homework task 4 we were asked to experiment with basic forms such as triangles, circles, squares and lines and their placement on an A4 page. These are my results. I found that by using the negative space of shapes you could create interesting patterns. In the one on the left the use of both triangles and circles make for a more interesting composition. In addition, I liked using more basic colours in order to keep the design simple. Finally, I realised that the repetition of black and white rectangles can do interesting things for perspective. However, I do feel (looking at it now), that the pattern on the left might have been more interesting too if I had moved up one of the trees (as I call them for want of better words) a little, since the variation and the slight asymmetry added to the picture might have improved it.
